Maria Toyoda is Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Professor of Government at Suffolk University. Maria has served as a Social Science Research Council Abe Fellow; nonresident researcher at International Monetary Fund; Council on Foreign Relations/Hitachi International Affairs Fellow; visiting researcher at Japan Bank for International Cooperation; and research scholar at Stanford University’s Institute for International Studies (Freeman-Spogli Institute), Asia/Pacific Research Center, and Stanford Japan Center-Research. She was served as associate dean, department chair, and faculty member at Villanova University. Her publications include articles in American Journal of Political Science, Review of Financial Studies and IMF Economic Review. She received her A.B. in Human Biology with Honors in Values, Technology, Science and Society from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. with Distinction in Government from Georgetown University. While a graduate student, Maria was a Monbusho Scholar (funded by a Japanese Ministry of Education grant).
